Voting, Because the Toilet Won’t Unclog Itself

Sometimes Democracy

gets clogged with 

greed and corruption,

lies and obstruction

Sometimes the shit

is so massive, 

so dense that 

one flush won’t do

Sometimes, to get that

lingering excrement 

to flow out of the house

and out of the senate…

for that enormous,

orange-tinged turd

that just won’t go away…

Sometimes, you need to 

flush ten, fifteen times

to force that shit

down the drain

hoping we can someday

recover from the 

overpowering stench
