Breaded Tofu

This was a delicious and effective way to bread tofu. It works great to eat as is (you can dip in a peanut sauce like from the Spicy Noodle Roll recipe) or you can use this preparation method for adding your tofu to a main dish recipe.

1 pkg extra-firm tofu
1/2 cup corn starch
1/4 cup water
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1/3 cup breadcrumbs
2 Tbsp nutritional yeast
pinch of salt
Vegetable or olive oil

Slice the tofu into long strips and press in a kitchen towel.

Mix the corn starch, water, and soy sauce in one bowl.

Mix the breadcrumbs, nutritional yeast, and salt in a second bowl.

Heat oil in skillet with enough to cover the bottom.

Dip the tofu strips into the liquid bowl then into the breadcrumb bowl. Then place in the hot oil and cook until brown, flipping to repeat for the other sides.
